“The most valuable asset in this county is people. It’s not the land, it’s not the machinery, it’s the people. Nobody in the world can run this equipment with more passion about their job.”

The Employment Security Commission, with a local office in Warrenton, provides assistance, including free applicant screening, to make your staffing process run smoothly. Visit the NC ESC website for more information about these and other services for business owners and individuals.

Free Training for Today’s Technology

North Carolina pioneered free, customized training for new and expanding businesses in 1958, and continues to provide the nation’s most recognized customized job training service. Helping businesses maintain their competitive edge is the primary role in the North Carolina Community Colleges.

Many of Warren County’s industries have taken advantage of the custom training provided by Vance-Granville Community college, with its satellite campus in Warrenton. Temple-Inland, Glen Raven Mills and Cochrane furniture are among the local industries that have received services ranging from pre-employment screening and training coordinated with the Employment Security Commission, to skilled professional instructors implementing the company’s job training specifications on-site. Vance-Granville’s Economic and Workforce Development Department provides customized training programs tailored to meet the needs of a company and its employees. These training programs are flexible in design and accomplish specific objectives and are jointly planned by company personnel and EDS training specialists from Vance-Granville.
